INSTRUCTOR
Thatcher Yates "Tatu"
I started my Jiu Jitsu journey in 2015. I started at Vanguard Gym in Manassas, Virginia, training under Professor Christian Bangheart, Leo Dalla, and Team Big Brothers. After some life events, I decided to relocate to Sterling, VA, and train under Professor Anthony "Tony" Passos at Team Passos under André Galvão and the Atos banner. There I spent 8 years competing, coaching, falling in love with the art of jiu jitsu, and lifestyle, meeting lots of friends along the way. After developing a deep understanding and solid, well-rounded game in the GI. I decided to take on NoGi challenges at Asend Jiu Jitsu, led by Professor Sean Stoopman under Tom Deblast. There grasped the full concept of NOGI Grappling and received my black belt on December 16. 2023. And deciding to go all in on Tatu Jiu-Jitsu and sharing my passion, love, and dedication to the Art.
